Quarterly Progress Report

1/1/2012 thru 3/31/2012 SWAP Grant # 11-G550-27FL

 Quarter Highlights

We received our second DNR check for $10,649.01 the second week of January.

In March, we received a Waste Commission of Scott County Community Grant of $2,500 to help complete the storage barn and promote our recycling activities.

On February 22, 2012 we held our Annual Meeting. Progress report and financial summaries can be found on our web site GRGDAVENPORT.ORG.

We continued working on barn shelving, battens and doors.

We recorded 212 volunteer hours during the quarter.

We continued opening The Architectural Rescue Shop (ARS) on Fridays from 10AM to 3PM and have sold about a ton of salvage for $1,276.

Having the store now opened on Fridays has netted us over a ton of salvaged doors, windows and woodwork donated directly to the shop this quarter.

In March, thanks to the mild weather, we started salvage of the 2 homes that Palmer College is demolishing. We salvaged 7 fireplace mantels, tile, woodwork, doors, hardware, etc for about 3 tons of salvage to date.

We printed 500 updated ARS brochures (one enclosed). The Restore Shop will display them for their customers.

--------------------------

Even though this turned out to be a mild winter, salvaging and working on the completion of the storage barn was limited. As of this report we have incurred construction expenses of $17,722. We did not file for any expenses for this quarter but we plan to do the electrical and completion of the barn next quarter and we will have additional reimbursable expenses then.

Recycling Ordinance Committee

I worked with Kathy Morris of the Waste Commission of Scott County about forming a recycling task force. She has contacted the Mayor’s office but still has no date for meeting with him on this initiative.

I will continue to push for this meeting with Mayor and a formation of a Davenport recycling task force.
